CIEH Level 3 Award in Training Principles and Practice Course

The CIEH Level 3 Award in Training – Principles and practice course is a short, introductory, knowledge-based training qualification and has no minimum practice requirement – except to engage in a short microteaching session – so may be undertaken by individuals who are not in a training role or who have just started a training role. 

 

Who needs this qualification?

This qualification is essential for anyone wishing to become a trainer. It is ideal for anyone who needs to understand the basics of training practice, presentation skills or wants to refine their training techniques. It is the minimum requirement needed to register as a CIEH trainer and deliver most of their courses. This course help experts in their workplace to develop teaching and training skills and deliver training. 

These education and training skills courses have replaced 'PTLLS'- Preparing to teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector qualification.

Duration: Three day programme

Assessment: Assignment (including a micro-teaching session)

Prerequisite: candidates should have a minimum of Level 2 in English or equivalent to undertake this qualification.

 

How are candidates assessed:

The CIEH Level 3 Award in Training – Principles and practice assessment is divided into two parts:

1. a 1,000 word outline of the candidate’s subject specialism

2. a microteaching session (including peer assessment).

 

Micro-teach

The practical assessed 'micro-teach' session involves:

•Producing a plan for, and delivering, a 20-25 minute training session

•Completion of a self-evaluation to review the effectiveness of the session, and peer    evaluations.

•The assessment includes discussion and feedback.

Inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training

Ways to create an inclusive teaching and learning environment

Planning inclusive teaching and learning

Delivering inclusive teaching and learning

Evaluating the delivery of inclusive teaching and learning

 

Certification

Candidates who pass the assessment, will achieve the CIEH Level 3 Award in Training – Principles and practice and be issued a CIEH certificate.
