To achieve this qualification a candidate must:

  •  Understand healthy eating guidelines in comparison with the average UK diet, with reference to:

  • Current UK government guidelines for a healthy balanced diet

  • Foods which are good sources of ‘macronutrients’ and ‘micronutrients’

  • The concept of energy balance

  • Examples of how food intake in the UK differs from the current guidelines

  • Understand how diet affects health and wellbeing, with reference to:

  • The main diseases in the UK that have a link to food intake

  • How food/drink choices, preparation and cooking methods can impact on a person’s health

  • How food allergies and food intolerances can affect individual wellbeing

  • How food/menu labelling helps the consumer identify healthy options as part of a healthy diet

  • Understand the factors that influence food choices, with reference to:

  • The tools for changing eating habits

  • Reliable sources of nutritional information

  • The factors (religious, ethical, economic) that can influence food choice 

Course information:

  • Duration: One day typically 09:00-16:30.

  • At your business location, we can start earlier or later than 09:00. 

  • Ofqual qualification number: 603/2159/3

  • Assessment: 30 MCQ's (20 correct to pass), to be completed in 45 minutes. 

  • Candidate requirements: Ideally candidates should have a level 1 in a nutrition related course and literacy and numeracy level 2

Course Trainer

Your Nutrition Trainer

  • Our expert trainer has a BSc (Hons) in Nutrition and Biology, along with a postgraduate qualification in Dietetics. With several years of experience in the NHS, they have provided valuable advice to patients on a range of topics, including cholesterol management, weight loss, diabetes, and food allergens.

  • Since the 1990s, your trainer has been dedicated to teaching and enhancing nutrition knowledge.

  • Was as a lecturer at Westminster Adult Education Service (WAES) for over eight years.

  • In addition to their academic background, they have worked in private practice as a nutritionist and contributed to various nutrition and health publications. Your trainer is also a qualified fitness instructor and has taught fitness classes, further enhancing their holistic approach to health and wellbeing.

  • Currently, they work as a Food Safety Consultant, specialising in writing and updating allergen and nutrition information for food businesses.

Course Types

On-site nutrition training - we come to your business location - nationwide. 

  • If you'd like this course delivered at your business location, contact us to book and discuss your requirements. 

  • Cost £280 plus £25pp, includes exam fees and course material.

  • Special Offer usually £300 plus £25pp

  • Although we are London based, we deliver this course throughout the UK. Trainer travel fees might be applied, depending on your business location. 

  • Our courses are VAT exempt.

 

Public courses @ Kitchen Tonic London (remote online webinar)

  • We run live public courses for anyone to attend. We use video conferencing platforms and the trainer is live, taking you through the course. Candidates must attend training live with the trainer via Google Meet. 

  • Webinars start at 09:30am and finish around 4:30pm. You will have a break for lunch and a short comfort break mid afternoon

  • Exams must be taken in person, at our office in London. Or we can arrange to come to your workplace, if you are in central London.  You will need to factor in one hour to sit your exam. 

  • Cost £45pp, includes exam fees (usually £90pp).Special offer is only applicable to courses taken remotely during April 2025

  • Our next remote online course is: 12th June 2025 (4 places remaining)

  • Exam date to be discussed

  • All resources required for this course will be emailed to you for printing, or if you do not have access to a printer, we can print and post them for an additional fee of £20pp. Please book at least 5 days in advance, if you require course materials to be posted to you.
