Labelling Compliance

Food Labelling Compliance Review

Ingredient lists, QUID declarations, nutritional information and health claims, checked against current UK food labelling law, beyond allergen emphasis alone.

Signs your labelling needs a review

  • Your recipes have changed since the labels were last checked
  • You're not sure your ingredients list is in the correct descending-weight order
  • You make a health or nutrition claim you haven't verified against the rules
  • A retailer or wholesaler has queried your labelling
  • Nobody has checked your wider labelling since Natasha's Law came in

What the review covers

1

Name of the food & format

A clear, legal name for the product, not just a brand name, and the right format for prepacked or PPDS food.

2

Ingredients list & QUID

Full ingredients in descending order of weight, and the Quantitative Ingredient Declaration percentage shown wherever it's required.

3

Nutritional information

Energy, fat, saturates, carbohydrate, sugars, protein and salt, declared in the right format and units.

4

Health & nutrition claims

Any claim like 'low fat', 'high in fibre' or 'source of protein' checked against the conditions that let you make it.

Our review checks your current labels against your recipes, suppliers and current UK labelling law, and produces a written report with prioritised fixes.

A desk review is the standard. Allergen emphasis and PPDS labelling under Natasha's Law is covered separately by our Allergen Matrix.

Food Labelling Review FAQs

How is this different from the Allergen Matrix?+

The Allergen Matrix (from £200) focuses on the 14 regulated allergens and PPDS/Natasha's Law emphasis requirements. This review covers the rest of the label, the ingredients list order, QUID declarations, nutritional information and any health or nutrition claims. The two are often booked together.

What does QUID mean?+

QUID stands for Quantitative Ingredient Declaration, the legal requirement to state the percentage of an ingredient when it's named or emphasised on the label, or is essential to characterise the food.

Does this cover Natasha's Law / PPDS allergen labelling?+

No, that's covered by the Allergen Matrix. This review covers the wider labelling content, ingredients, QUID, nutrition and claims, so it complements the Allergen Matrix rather than replacing it.

Does this include a site visit?+

It's a desk review by default, checking your current labels against your recipes and suppliers. An on-site visit can be added if you want production checked as well as the paperwork.

How long does a review take?+

Typically 1-2 weeks for a single menu or product range.
