HACCP Compliance
HACCP Plan Review: Is Your Plan Still Compliant?
Already have a HACCP plan? Before you assume it still protects you, get it checked against the 7 HACCP principles and your current operation.
Last updated:
Signs your HACCP plan needs a review
- Your menu has changed since the plan was written
- Nobody can remember the last time it was reviewed
- It was a generic template, not written for your kitchen
- You've had an inspection finding or a near-miss since
- A new head chef or manager inherited it without a handover
What the review covers
The 7 principles of HACCP
Hazard Analysis
Identify biological, chemical, and physical hazards at every step of food production.
Critical Control Points
Determine the points where hazards can be prevented, eliminated, or reduced.
Critical Limits
Establish maximum or minimum values (e.g., cooking temperatures) for each CCP.
Monitoring Procedures
Set up systems to check that each CCP stays within critical limits.
Corrective Actions
Define what to do when monitoring indicates a CCP is not under control.
Verification
Confirm the HACCP system is working effectively through audits and reviews.
Record-Keeping
Maintain documentation to demonstrate compliance to EHOs and auditors.
Our review checks your existing documentation against your current menu, processes and team against each of these principles, and produces a written gap report with prioritised recommendations.
A desk review is the standard. An on-site visit can be added if you want your systems checked in practice as well as on paper.

HACCP Review FAQs
Is my HACCP plan compliant?+
The only way to know for certain is to check it against your current menu and processes and the 7 HACCP principles. A plan that has not been reviewed since it was written is a common gap that officers flag under confidence in management, even if the plan was correct when it was first drawn up.
How is a HACCP review different from a new HACCP plan?+
A review checks your existing documentation against your current operation and the 7 HACCP principles, and produces a written gap report. A new plan (from £500) builds the whole Food Safety Management System from scratch. If you already have a plan that is broadly sound but unverified, a review is the faster, cheaper route.
How long does a HACCP review take?+
Typically 1-2 weeks for a single site, faster than a new build because we are checking existing documentation, not writing it from scratch.
What if the review finds my plan needs a rebuild?+
We will tell you plainly and quote for a new plan instead of billing you for a review that will not help. You only pay for the review itself.
Does a HACCP review include a site visit?+
It is a desk review by default. An on-site visit can be added if you want your systems checked in practice as well as on paper.
