COSHH Awareness for Food Businesses, Online
What You Will Learn
- What COSHH actually covers in a food business, cleaning chemicals, sanitisers, descalers and pest control products, not just industrial substances
- How to read a hazard label and a safety data sheet (SDS), and why chemicals should never be decanted into unlabelled bottles or mixed together
- The hierarchy of control: eliminate, substitute, engineering and administrative controls, with PPE as the last resort
- Safe storage, spill response, and what to do if someone is exposed to a hazardous substance

A Note on This Course
This is a KitchenTonic-assessed awareness course, not an RSPH or Ofqual-accredited qualification. It gives staff a practical grounding in COSHH principles for everyday kitchen and cleaning chemicals. It does not replace a workplace COSHH assessment for each hazardous substance in use, which remains the employer’s responsibility.
